WELCOME TO THE PAINTED POTTER     Native American Art

I live in a small coastal town in Maine. I am of Micmac descent. I've always known about my Native American Heritage growing up, but I didn't understand why our heritage was lost for 2 generations.
In doing research I found, had my grandfather admitted he was native when he crossed the border into the United States from Canada, he would have been beaten and sent back. So you didn't tell. This was 100 years ago.
In 1990 my husband and I went to our first Native American Pow-wow. I cried like a baby. I felt like I had come home.
Since then I have learned from my elders and read books they have told me to read, because so much had been lost.
All that you see at my web site, I make myself. I try to make everything as close to tradition as possible. Thank you, I hope you enjoy my work.
